Chart flip: A=26…Z=1
English Reverse keeps the spelling you type. It changes the chart: A counts as 26, B as 25, down to Z as 1. That is the opposite of English Ordinal places. Spaces and punctuation still add nothing.
If someone says “reverse gematria” and shows a table with A=26, they mean this chart flip. The live tool for that map is the English Reverse calculator page.
Spelling flip: EVOL is a different job
Writing LOVE backwards as EVOL and totalling Ordinal uses a different letter sequence under the ordinary A=1…Z=26 map. That experiment can be interesting. It is not what this site calls Reverse.
Mixing the two without labels is how tutorials end up with “wrong” totals. State whether you flipped the chart or the spelling.
Worked examples
LOVE in Reverse: L=15 + O=12 + V=5 + E=22 = 54. Ordinal LOVE is 54 — same sum for this word, different letter values. Coincidence, not a law.
GOD in Reverse: G=20 + O=12 + D=23 = 55. Ordinal GOD is 26. Here the totals diverge, which is the usual case.
Label the cipher
Decode clips often omit the chart. Before comparing your number to theirs, ask which map they used. Reverse, Ordinal, and Full Reduction are three different English jobs. The decoder can search Reverse totals by number once you know the cipher.

Not on this site. Reverse is A=26…Z=1 with the spelling left forward. Writing EVOL and totalling Ordinal is a separate experiment.Why can LOVE be 54 in Ordinal and Reverse?
The letter values rearrange so this particular word keeps the same sum. It is not a general identity for every string.What is GOD in Reverse?
G=20, O=12, D=23 → 55 on this site’s A=26…Z=1 map.Where do I run Reverse live?
The English Reverse Gematria Calculator page. Ordinal stays on the homepage.Does the decoder support Reverse?
Yes. Pick the Reverse tab when searching by number.
