What English Reverse gematria is
English Reverse assigns each Latin letter the opposite of its Ordinal place: A=26, B=25, … Z=1. You still type LOVE as L-O-V-E. The chart changes; the spelling order does not.
That is not the same experiment as spelling the word backwards and running Ordinal on EVOL. If a source says “reverse gematria” without a chart, ask which rule they mean.

Common mistakes
Confusing Reverse with EVOL-style spelling
Reversing letters changes which Ordinal values you add. Reverse gematria changes the chart, not the order of characters.
Mixing Reverse with Full Reduction reduction
Full Reduction folds A–Z into 1–9. Reverse is a full 26–1 map. Do not reduce Reverse totals unless you state a second step.
