Positions 1–22

Mispar Siduri numbers each Hebrew letter by order in the aleph–bet: aleph=1, bet=2, … tav=22. Final forms share the base letter’s index (final kaf = 11, like kaf).

Vs Mispar Hechrachi

Hechrachi uses 1–9, 10–90, 100–400. Shin is 300 there and 21 in Siduri. Same alphabet, different map. English Ordinal is the Latin cousin of this idea (A–Z 1–26), not the same chart.

חי and אב

חי Siduri: ח=8 + י=10 = 18. Hechrachi is also 18 for this pair. אב Siduri: א=1 + ב=2 = 3; Hechrachi א=1 + ב=2 = 3.

Finals are not Gadol

Siduri does not raise finals to 500–900. That is Mispar Gadol. If your total jumps by hundreds when a sofit appears, you are on Gadol — see Gadol vs Hechrachi.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is Siduri “Hebrew Ordinal”?
Yes — that English label means the same 1–22 position map on this site.
  • Why is shin 21 in Siduri but 300 in Hechrachi?
Different charts. Position versus place-value hundreds.
  • Do finals jump to 500–900 in Siduri?
No. Finals share the base letter’s index. Large finals are Mispar Gadol.
  • Can חי be 18 in both Siduri and Hechrachi?
Yes for that pair (8+10). Do not assume every word matches across systems.
